Dave and Angela Dawes won the EuroMillions Superdraw 4th October 2011 jackpot, but in draw number 422 on 7th October 2011 after the initial Superdraw failed to find a winner. The numbers drawn unsuccessfully were 14, 16, 23, 38 and 45, with Lucky Stars 8 and 11. The winning numbers in the EuroMillions results three days later were 18, 26, 34, 38 and 42 while the Lucky Stars were 5 and 8.
The Cambridgeshire couple, who didn’t regularly play the EuroMillions and had only done so twice before, planned to make “15 to 20” of their close family and friends millionaires. Unsurprisingly Dave, an avid Chelsea fan, decided to give up his job as a shift supervisor at Premier Foods in Wisbech, while Angela said she would step down from her role as a volunteer with the British Heart Foundation.
Two months after the win the couple were married at a simple service Gretna Green and celebrated with close family and a £250 bottle of champagne. Just two years later, relatives told the press that the pair’s six-year relationship had ended after arguments over how to spend their enormous winnings.
Dave moved back to a £3.5m Chelsea penthouse whilst Angela remained in their Surrey mansion.
Other lotteries that took place on 4th October 2011 were Australia’s Oz Lotto with a Jackpot of US$6,400,000 and Italy’s SuperEnalotto with a Jackpot of € 19,200,000.
