EuroMillions Winner – Francisco Rodríguez

EuroMillions Winner Francisco Rodríguez won the jackpot, from a Superdraw rollover, in draw number 380 on 13th May 2011.

The winning EuroMillions lottery numbers were 9, 11, 17, 36 and 47, while the Lucky Stars were 1 and 2. The Spaniard netted an incredible £105,892,179.

The EuroMillions winner came from Pilas in Seville and was 30 years of age when he hit the jackpot. It brought him unprecedented fame across the country at a time when Spain was on the brink of one of its darkest economic periods. The 30 year old man was working as a baker in his local town when he won the huge EuroMillions lotto jackpot prize.

He decided to play EuroMillions with a group of friends at the Nervion Plaza with each friend picking a separate set of numbers. Rodriguez was the lucky one as he happened to pick the winning EuroMillions numbers.

Shortly after macthing all of the winning numbers from the EuroMillions results to win the jackpot, Rodriguez and his family stunned his neighbours and friends by closing down the bakery on Murillo Street suddenly and leaving the town of Pilas with his fortune. The bakery had been handed down from father to son for generations but the EuroMillions lottery win was too large for Rodriguez and his family to carry on working and living as normal. A friend of the family said “The people are very fond of Delgado. They have always been hard workers.”

Little is known about where Rodriguez and his family went, but rumours amongst the local community suggested a number of possibilities including a move to Madrid where they were apparently welcomed by the Bank of Spain.

Whatever Rodriguez is doing and wherever he is right now, he has successfully created perhaps one of the most intriguing and mysterious EuroMillions lottery wins since its inception. Rumours spiralled out of control and suspicions of foul play began to materialise.

It may seem like a far-fetched idea but if an uneducated baker from Seville can become a millionaire in an instant then anything is possible. The Rodriguez story is certainly a rags to riches tale that helps to make the EuroMillions lottery such a romantic game to play.

Just 15 days after the life-changing EuroMillions results, Rodriguez is known to have attended the Monaco Grand Prix Formula 1, as a follower of Alonso and Team Ferrari. He bought a house in Miami and apparently lives there, but he has also bought a luxury duplex in central Seville with his EuroMillions lotto jackpot, close to Giralda.

A sparkling blue Porsche has been spotted in his driveway. The property is valued at 1.2 million euros, covers 172 square metres and has a terrace with 100 metre swimming pool. He has also bought chalets for each of his three sisters, Maru, Lola and Maribel.

Since the EuroMillions winner and his family left the bakery, superstitious passers-by have been seen touching the door to the closed property hoping that, by touching the former front door of the EuroMillions lotto jackpot winner’s business, they will be “spreading the wealth”.

For those of you who are also supersticious and believe that Delgado's lottery numbers are destined for success again in the future, you can run them through our EuroMillions results checker in order to see how much they have taken home in prizes over the last few years. You can of course also use this to check your own numbers as well. Our EuroMillions Winners Overview rounds up all the winners stories we have on our website.
