You have probably heard of the Laughing Policeman, well now meet the laughing nurse. Actually, make that the laughing EuroMillions lottery winner.

Most people’s response to winning a lottery prize is disbelief, eventually followed by euphoria. That’s once the incredible news has sunk in, and the celebrating and spending can begin.

For district nurse Jan Parfitt, winning EuroMillions brought on an unexpected reaction. She laughed. Not the usual response to winning £1 million in the EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle, but it’s definitely one of our favourites.

Jan Parfitt said: “I just laughed, and laughed. I know it sounds crazy, but it was such an unreal feeling knowing we had suddenly won so much money that I couldn’t help it. In fact, I’m only just starting to believe it.”

This is no joke; her immediate reaction was to laugh, as confirmed by her husband Alan: “What can I say – but you’ve got to be in it, to win it! I had to wake Jan up to ask her to double-check the computer results for me, and she just looked at the screen and burst out laughing.”

Alan plays EuroMillions online every Tuesday and Friday. It was Friday 17th May’s draw that made him an instant millionaire. In between laughing Jan said: “We just haven’t had a moment to think about what we’ll spend some of the money on, but we will certainly look after our family and know that we can have a comfortable life from now on.”

That’s definitely something to smile about, or laugh about. If you fancy laughing all the way to the bank with a cool million, you’d better start playing EuroMillions. As Alan knows, you’ve got to be in it to win it. You can easily purchase your EuroMillions tickets online at
