A couple from Devon have become millionaires thanks to the EuroMillions lottery; and they won their fortune just one day before setting off on a motorhome tour of Europe.Rodney Hancock, 64 and his wife Vanessa, 60, were heading off on a trip of a lifetime travelling around both the UK and Europe, when they discovered that they held the guaranteed winning ticket in the EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle. The day after the draw on Tuesday, August 26th, the couple were due to travel from their home in Ottery St Mary, Devon to Norfolk, and they did so with an extra million in the bank.Mr Hancock told lottery officials that he never thought he’d have won so much money on the EuroMillions, and put off checking his ticket because he didn’t think it was worth it. “I got a notification on my phone to tell me I’d won,” the lifetime lottery player said: “but I assumed it was one of the smaller amounts.”Mr Hancock then checked his ticket online a few hours later and was gobsmacked to find out that he’d become a millionaire. “I didn’t quite believe it until I phoned the National Lottery and they confirmed it,” said the winner.The couple, who have only been married since January and have six children between them, still set off on their trip the next day and therefore were unable to immediately celebrate their win with their family.
