£1M WINNING SYNDICATE CLEANS UP IN EUROMILLIONS DRAW

A syndicate of 18 cleaners from St Matthew's Academy in Saltcoats, Ayrshire, Scotland are celebrating after they cleaned up in the March 6 EuroMillions draw winning £1m.The syndicate won their prize in the Millionaire Maker Raffle, which is part of the EuroMillions draw that is available to ticket holders from the UK. A code is automatically generated for each line of EuroMillions numbers purchased, then entered into the raffle draw.It's understood that the majority of the EuroMillions winning syndicate members are female and work at the St Matthew's Academy in the afternoons. Another cleaner at the school, who wished to remain anonymous, said "I do work in there but unfortunately I'm not one of the winners. I wish I was! They are the talk of the place today. I know there are 18 of them, so they will get about £55,000 each. That's not bad, is it?"A spokesman at North Ayrshire Council has confirmed that the St Matthew's Academy were aware that members of their staff had won £1m playing EuroMillions. "We can confirm that we are aware a number of staff at the school have won a lottery prize,” he said. “However, none of them are council employees and are instead employed by an outside contractor.” It’s understood the winners are all employed by cleaning services company MITIE.Camelot, who operate EuroMillions in the UK, said: "We cannot confirm or deny whether this rumour is true, nor provide any location of winning tickets at the moment. Once a winner comes forward, they meet with one of our advisers. They can then decide whether they want to go public with their win. Until that time, we are unable to provide any further information.”The £1m EuroMillions win is the second time that a syndicate of workers from Scotland have been successful playing the lottery game.
