Shop Keeper Calls Customer to Tell Her She’s the €7.9m Irish Lotto Jackpot Winner

Lottery24 – Shop keeper informs customer of her €7.9 Irish Lotto winThe identity of just who won the €7.9m Irish Lotto jackpot in the draw held on Saturday April 23 still isn’t known. We do know however that the winner is female and purchased her winning ticket from Hanrahan’s Londis in the Faythe in Wexford.

Shop owner Michael Hanrahan confirmed that he sold the winning €12.50 ticket late on Saturday afternoon and knows the winning player. “I know the lady who won the €7.9m jackpot, but understandably, she wants to remain anonymous,” Mr Hanrahan said at the weekend.

Not every winner wants to have their identities revealed. Last year a player from Limerick did that after winning €2m playing the Irish Lotto. In England, the winners of a £33m UK Lotto jackpot earlier this year decided to remain anonymous.

He added that the winner is “absolutely delighted” with her jackpot win. Mr Hanrahan is too, describing the jackpot winner as “a lovely lady, as well as a lucky one.”

It was late on Saturday evening when Michael was informed by his National Lottery area manager Kieran Tuohy that his store had sold the jackpot winning Irish Lotto ticket and initially thought it was “a wind-up.”

Mr Hanrahan said It’s rare for someone to come into his shop and spend €12.50 on tickets so he knew who the lucky player was. At around 10.30pm he called her asking if she’d checked her Irish Lotto tickets. She hadn’t and got the shock of her life when doing so.

Last month a syndicate of workers from Waterford City won a €2,578,134 Irish Lotto jackpot. The year got off to a big start with a €13.7m Irish Lotto ticket sold in Galway.

It’s the first big Lotto winning ticket his store has sold since opening five years ago. “We have had nothing like it, just a few small ones; a thousand euro here and there. That’s it.” That’s unlike the newsstand in Connecticut, USA, that recently sold its second big winning Lucky For Life ticket.

The winning numbers in the April 23 draw were: 01-09-15-23-33-38 and the Bonus Ball 29.
