AMANDA NEARLY MISSES £1M EUROMILLIONS WIN
Remembering to check that Millionaire Maker Code on your EuroMillions ticket really is important. Asda employee Amanda Lewis from Featherstone in Staffordshire, England, nearly forgot to do that but then remembered and discovered her £1m win.
The 49-year-old won her £1m EuroMillions prize in the 7 June draw. She’d been covering for a couple of colleagues at work so it was a long day for her. After finally finishing her shift, she realized some groceries had to be purchased.
Amanda had already had some luck playing lottery games having won £2 on a previous lottery draw. She decided to buy another ticket with her meagre winnings but didn’t think about her EuroMillions purchase until the following day.
Lewis checked her numbers, saw she hadn’t won anything and completely forgot to check the Millionaire Maker Code. Then she asked the lady at the lottery kiosk in Asda to have another look at her EuroMillions ticket and got the shock of her life. “When she started to smile I went a bit weak at the knees,” said the shocked winner. A family in Ireland nearly missed out on a €500,000 EuroMillions windfall when they didn’t fully check their ticket.
It’s the latest big lottery win by a supermarket employee. A syndicate of workers from a Tesco store in Cheshire, England won a £1m EuroMillions prize. Last week we told you how £5.872m UK Lotto winners Dawn and Andrew Bosworth still shop in Asda despite their big win.
The lucky EuroMillions winner still isn’t sure what she’s going to do with all of her lottery windfall. Like many other winners though, she’s going to ensure that her children are looked after first. That means Charlotte and Ryan will be given cars. A taxi driver in Scotland bought a new Audi after his £1m EuroMillions win.
Then a family holiday is on the horizon, probably to Cyprus. Canadian $1m Lotto 6/49 winner Jamie McKenzie went travelling after his big win.
Once those purchases are sorted, the Asda employee says “I’m just going to have a think, discuss it with my husband Barry and take it steady.”
