Ashman Kennedy from Kitchener in Ontario, Canada says he’ll be giving his $30m Lotto Max win to his children and grandchildren.

The lucky Lotto Max player scooped his $30m Lotto Max jackpot in the draw held on September 16. Speaking at a news conference, he declared, “I don’t want nothing much from it.” He was surrounded by 15 of his relatives as he received his winning Lotto Max cheque.

He says the winnings will mean he can have all the rum, juice and cigarettes that he needs. Kennedy also plans on being able to “relax for a little,” but he has some major priorities for how his Lotto Max jackpot winnings will be spent saying “for me, the kids and grandchildren are the ones who are going to enjoy it.” That’s just like UK winner Vic Eden who shared his £1m UK Lotto win with his children. “All I tell them is, do not waste it,” the Lotto Max winner added. “The only way they can complain is if they waste it.”

Ashman didn’t even pay for his winning Lotto Max ticket which was purchased from the Petro Canada on Ottawa Street. His $30m Lotto Max win was discovered at the Foodland in Ayr but he didn’t believe his big win thinking, “something’s strange here.”

Not sure he asked a relative to double-check his numbers. Then he made a few phone calls, including one to one of his daughters who was asleep at the time. “She was awake now,” he laughed.

Another of his daughters described her father as “such a caring individual,” and “his heart always goes out to every person.” One of his sons pledged to spend the Lotto Max winnings in a respectful manner as “his intentions are to make everything better for us.”

It’s the latest big lottery win in Toronto. Maurice De Gennaro won a $60m Lotto Max jackpot. Another Toronto player celebrated after his $24.5m Lotto 6/49 win. Also winning a massive prize was June Berg from British Columbia who won a $50m Lotto Max jackpot.

Already planned is spending the winter in Jamaica. In the UK £186.128.50 EuroMillions winner Anita Reid headed for New York.

“I feel so good to know all my kids enjoy life to the fullest. I said to them, anyplace you want to go, go,” said the lucky Lotto Max winner.
