AUSTRALIAN LOTTERY RETAILER FEELS “LIKE SANTA” AFTER WINNING SATURDAY LOTTO TICKET WAS SOLD AT HIS STORE

A lottery retailer from Australia who sold a winning Saturday Lotto ticket just before Christmas has told Lottery officials that he “feels like Santa” as he waits for the ticket to be claimed. In fact, two lucky Western Australian will be celebrating an even more special Christmas after two Division 1 winners were found in the Saturday Lotto the weekend before Christmas. One of those winners purchased their ticket from Woolstores Lottery Centre & News in Fremantle, just south of Perth, and the other winner purchased their ticket through their online Lottery membership. Not long ago a brother and sister from Perth shared a $1.3 million Australian Saturday Lotto prize. Each of the tickets were worth $976,274 when they were drawn just before the holidays, and the owner of the Fremantle store, Rex Basset, told Saturday Lotto officials that before Christmas all of his customers were lining up at the door hoping that they were the lucky festive winner. “I feel like I’m the new Santa Claus!” the lottery retailer said. “People are getting their tickets out and checking them twice, if you’ll pardon the pun.” A People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador said that she felt like Santa Claus one Christmas when she knocked on doors to inform people of their big lottery wins, while a scratch card winner from Illinois said she wanted to take on the persona of Santa Claus by sending her family extra special Christmas gifts and money after winning $4 million.Mr Basset also told Saturday Lotto officials that he hopes to make it a double and sell another Division 1 winning ticket in the Megadraw, set to be drawn before the New Year. The Australian Saturday Lotto Megadraw takes place on Saturday 30th December across the country, and last year the winner was found in the west, with plenty of Western Australians winning top lottery prizes the year before as well.“We all have our fingers and toes crossed that Western Australian will prove to be the lucky State once again,” said Pina Compagnone, Lotterywest spokesperson. “Plenty of people have bought their tickets already for this popular draw and with $30 million on the line, you’ve got to be in it to win it.” Last year a woman from new South Wales carried her winning Australian Lotto ticket in her handbag for 12 days.Try your luck and purchase your lottery tickets online at Lottery24.com.
