Two Weeks Before Discovering $1 million Gold Lotto Win

Just imagine going two weeks as a Gold Lotto millionaire but not knowing. That’s what happened to a father and son from Redland City in south-east Queensland.

The pair had won a $1 million prize in the Gold Lotto draw held on March 24. However, the lucky winners didn’t check their ticket and continued their lives as normal. They went out buying the usual items, not knowing that they could afford something a lot dearer.

The son said that he couldn’t believe the fact that they had no idea of their Gold Lotto windfall. His father is a regular lottery player but “I sometimes chip in,” said the winner. The winning ticket had been purchased by his father from the Nextra Newsagency in Cleveland.

Not a Clue

After the draw had been held, he felt that they had won a prize but never guessed it was a million dollars. The pair simply forgot to check their Gold Lotto ticket properly. Finally, they got around to seeing just if they had won anything.

Recalling that amazing moment, the son said: “We tapped in the ticket number online and we couldn't believe it. I think we were both in shock, we were speechless.” Well not quite speechless, they did manage to mutter ‘Wow!”

Life Changing Win

Now the pair plan to use their Gold Lotto win to buy a house together. “This will help us so much, especially for my future,” said the delighted winner. “It’s really going to set me up,” he added.

Jenny Adams is the manager of the store that sold the winning Gold Lotto ticket. “It was so exciting when they came and told us they were the winners we'd be searching for,' said the manager.

Their ticket had matched the winning numbers of 05-06-17-29-30-37 and the supplementary numbers 08 and 18. The ticket purchased by the father and son duo was the only division one winner for that draw.

The moral of this story seems to be always check your tickets fully. You never know quite what you might find.
