Gloria C McKenzie - $590 million
One of the biggest Powerball winners is Gloria C McKenzie from Florida. She waited for two weeks before collecting her bumper $590 million jackpot.
On May 18, 2013, she matched the numbers 10, 13, 14, 22 and 52, with a Powerball of 11. After collecting the huge sum she quickly moved into a new $1.1 million luxury home.
Donald Lawson - $337 million
Another huge winner is Donald Lawson who grabbed $337 million in the August 14, 2012 draw. After the win, he told his whole family they could retire and enjoy the rest of their lives.
The Michigan based winner described himself as a ‘hillbilly’ and opted to take the lump sum amount of $158m.
ConAgra Workers - $365 million
A syndicate of ConAgra workers from Nebraska took home the February 18 jackpot in 2006. The syndicate contained 7 men and 1 woman with them sharing the $365 million jackpot between them. They all took the lump sum payout worth $15.5 million each.
The winners all have a varied background, with two having emigrated from Vietnam and another from the Congo, Africa. To join the syndicate they contributed $5 each which turned out to be a sound investment.
Pedro Quezada - $338 million
Another of the biggest Powerball winners is Pedro Quezada. He captured the $338 million jackpot in the March 23 draw in 2013. Originally from Dominica, the 45-year-old arrived in the USA 26 years prior to his win.
One of the first things he did was share his good fortune with his home block by declaring he would pay his neighbour's rent for them. The winning Powerball numbers for the draw were 17, 29, 31, 52, 53 and the Powerball was 31.
