The Powerball lotto results on 22nd March 2014 lead to a massive windfall for Powerball Winners John and Susan Brands from St. Charles in Missouri.

The Powerball lottery jackpot was a huge $96.5 million and the couple elected to take the cash option of $55,351,107.35.

When John Brands checked his Powerball lotto tickets the morning after the draw, he was planning on his usual morning game of golf. However, when he discovered that had had matched all six Powerball winning numbers, golf was the last thing on his mind and instead he went to wake his wife, Susan. “I thought the house was on fire,” she said.

“I thought he was messing with me.” The Powerball lotto winning couple told lottery officials in Missouri that they

“walked around the house shell-shocked.” “I almost fell over” Susan said.

Mary and Brian Lohse won $202.1 million in September 2012 and Brian thought his wife was playg a joke on him as well when she told him about their win.

John left his job as a civil engineer almost immediately after the Powerball lottery jackpot win, but Susan planned to finish out the semester; she is currently studying web design. The Powerball lotto winners said they would like to spend time doing the things they always wanted to, but hadn’t had time, including learning languages, going to culinary school and John also wanted to take guitar lessons.

“We are just so humbled by this experience,” Susan added. “John and I both feel very blessed and grateful to have this happen to us.”

Top of the list for members of $448 million winning Powerball syndicate Oceans 16 was retirement following their August 2013 win.

John is originally from Portageville in Missouri and Susan comes from Wichita in Kansas. The Powerball lotto winning couple, both 49, also told Missouri lottery officials that they planned to “treat themselves to some decent cars,” as they were driving old ones.

They also planned to take a trip to New Zealand thanks to their winning Powerball numbers. “We’re nerds,” Susan said.

“That’s where The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit were filmed.” John described how he would love to use some of the Powerball lottery jackpot to buy farmland.

He said “Like the line from the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou, ‘You ain’t no kind of man, if you ain’t got land,’” he joked.

John decided to play Powerball at Bridgeton Mobil, who will receive a bonus of $50,000 for selling the ticket with the winning Powerball numbers on it. John and Susan’s prize is the sixth-largest jackpot ever won in Missouri; they are the 29th players to win a Powerball lottery jackpot in Missouri, and the 397th lottery millionaires from there since the lottery began in 1986. Other winners in the same Powerball lotto draw were Kenneth Schmidt of Alma who won $1,000,000 by matching five Powerball numbers;

Gerald Abney of Sedalia was a $700,000 winner in the Scratchers game and Catalina Anderson & Melissa Anderson, both of Seymour who each won a $350,000 prizes.
