$15 million Oz Lotto Winner Always Thought He’d Win

Two amazingly lucky players shared the $30 million jackpot in the August 5 Oz Lotto draw. One said that he always thought a big win would come along eventually.

That was a man from Broadbeach on the Gold Coast of Australia. His ticket was registered so lottery officials knew who had won a share of the jackpot. He hadn’t checked the results so had no idea of his good fortune.

The lottery company gave him a phone call but he wasn’t answering his phone. Only when finally checking his ticket was he willing to talk about his windfall.

“This is the best news I've had in many a year,” said the Oz Lotto winner. He’s a regular player but admitted he’d “never thought it would happen to me.”  I'm glad I persisted,” he added. Last year  a player won a $50 million Australian Powerball jackpot with his first ticket.

He plans on helping his children and grandchildren with his Oz Lotto winnings.

Also winning $15 million was a man from Horsham in Victoria. Earlier this year  a Victorian couple won a $4.8 million Set for Life prize.

It wasn’t long after the draw had taken place that the lottery company spoke to him about his jackpot win.

Better answer this one

He hadn’t seen the draw and usually doesn’t answer his phone thinking it might be a scammer calling. “Something made me think I’d better answer this one” and when he did, a big surprise was on its way.

“It’s a shock! I’m sweating like anything,” said the delighted winner. He added: “Honestly, I always thought I was going to win. Ever since I was in my 20s, I’ve thought, ‘one day I’m going to win’.  It’s just taken a while!”

His first task was to tell his wife the great news. Not that he thought she’d believe him. He also plans to help his children and grandchildren pay off their homes. A trip around Australia in a new car is also on his wish list with a caravan also being purchased.
