A syndicate of 23 charity workers from Londonderry in Northern Ireland spent three weeks not knowing they’d won a £1m in the July 31 EuroMillions draw. The syndicate’s EuroMillions ticket was purchased by Rory McParland but he didn’t immediately check the results which he’s renowned for doing. Instead he went on holiday travelling around Ireland, not knowing he had a £1m winning EuroMillions ticket in his wallet. Recently a player in Sydney, Australia had a $3.8m Lucky Lottery Super Jackpot ticket in his wallet for several weeks before finding out how much it’d won. In Canada, a syndicate waited two weeks before finding out they’d won $1m playing the Lotto 6/49 draw.Only when returning home did he discover that the other members of the syndicate “were naturally eager” on him finally checking their EuroMillions ticket. Perhaps they should have done what a woman from Kildare in Ireland who knew she’d won €250,000 in an Irish Lotto draw as she watched it live on TV.He returned to the store that sold him the EuroMillions ticket and was told they’d had wins on three lines, but their combined winnings were only £15.80, which the syndicate leader said, “is our usual form.” Then the store assistant said he’d need to contact Camelot. Not used to big EuroMillions wins he asked her what she meant and was told “we had won big money.” He rushed back to work at the Greater Shantallow Area Partnership and the syndicate members started checking the results on their phone and finally discovered their £1m EuroMillions win.McParland said, “we were all jumping around the place, going mad, shouting and cheering.” He added, “I think there were even a few tears shed.” That’s just what a woman from New Zealand did after winning a $1m NZ Saturday Lotto prize. Each member of the EuroMillions winning syndicate will receive just over £43,000. It won’t be enough for them to quit their jobs but even the syndicate from California, USA, that won a $543m Mega Millions jackpot are still working. The EuroMillions syndicate leader wants to buy a new car so he can go on more holidays in his touring caravan. Rory added: "To think that this one win will change the lives of 23 families is amazing, whether it pays for a dream holiday, helps with the mortgage or whatever each member chooses to spend it on."Get ready for your lottery windfall and play online at
