The latest Euromillions winners find themselves in second place on the National Lottery rich list, above several other lottery jackpot winners.
The top spot is currently held by Colin and Chris Weir from Largs in Ayrshire, who won £161,653,000 back in July 2011. Gillian and Adrian Bayford of Haverhill, Suffolk won last Friday’s EuroMillions lottery jackpot of £148million.
The EuroMillions results of 11, 17, 21, 48, 50 and Lucky Stars 9 and 10 matched one of the 5 lines of numbers purchased by Adrian Bayford at his local shop. He opted for the Lucky Dip selection, which was certainly very lucky indeed.
The couple is over the moon at their good fortune and intend to share the monetary happiness with others, including children’s charities.
Gillian Bayford said that if you are selfish and keep it to yourself, yes, it is far too much money. But if you are willing to share it around and give it to people and let them have the quality of life you are having as well, it is more enjoyable.
This generous attitude follows the footsteps of EuroMillions winners Colin and Chris Weir, who have donated large amounts to charities and projects close to their hearts since becoming lottery winners. On discovering their luck the couple stayed up all night surfing the Internet for inspiration on how to spend their fortune.
They intend to treat themselves to a new dream home, Gillian’s dream car (an Audi Q7), and taking the kids to DisneyWorld. Gillian has decided to give up her nursing job and Adrian has temporarily closed his music shop whilst they absorb the fact that they are now millionaires.
