I guess going to sleep and dreaming of winning the lottery is something that we all do from time to time. Well that’s what a man from Limerick, Ireland did this week and the next day he won €105,541 in the EuroMillions draw held on August 26th.

It was on Monday evening when the winner, who has decided to remain anonymous, retired to bed and then started dreaming.” There are all kinds of different dreams that people can have, but this particular one was all about the lottery. “I dreamt the shop owner came down to my door with my ticket in his hand saying I’d won!” said the lucky winner when receiving his winning cheque at National Lottery HQ.

The following day his dream kind of came true. There was no shop owner at his door with a ticket in his hand, but he did win the EuroMillions lottery. The ticket he’d purchased from Martin Hayes’ shop in Tervoe, Clarina, Co Limerick had matched five numbers giving him a €105,541 fortune.

The big win comes after some difficult years for the winner, who told reporters: “I’ve had ill health in the past, so the fact that I’m still here is my Lottery win.”

He now plans on sharing his EuroMillions winnings with his family and his children were with him to celebrate his fantastic stroke of luck. One of his proud daughters said: “It was like a scene from Willy Wonka in the house. Dad got out his ticket and we started calling out the numbers. Then the joy it was to find out that he had the Golden Ticket!”

Another daughter said: “We all got phone calls with the news. He casually said, ‘I’ve won a bit of money on the EuroMillions’. “How much?” I said. ‘About €105,000!’. “No way Dad”, I said.”

It’s not the first time that the lucky player has matched five numbers. Back in the late 1980s, he nearly became a millionaire when he was just one number away from winning the first €1 million Lotto jackpot.
