A couple from Lyneham in Wiltshire, England, thought they’d only won a £25 EuroMillions prize. However, Ruth and Peter Doyle had actually won £1m in the June 23 draw.

They are the latest EuroMillions players to win £1m after Welsh couple Jeff and Davina Pritchard became lottery millionaires in the June 5 draw. The month before George and Betty Rhodick won £1m in the May 29 EuroMillions draw.

Ruth, 51, told the press how the couple play online because “we’d never remember to buy tickets otherwise.” It’s a good job they do because it was Camelot who told them that they had become lottery millionaires. The EuroMillions winner, who is a senior programme manager for Johnson Controls in Europe, said that when she got the call telling her of her £1m EuroMillions win, she “thought it was a wind up.”

Doyle had already received an email from the National Lottery but it didn’t tell her how much the win was. When she checked her bank account all she could see was £25 received from the National Lottery. As soon as she received the amazing news the EuroMillions winner told her husband Peter, 60, who’s a decorator development manager for AkzoNobel, Dulux. The couple are the latest successful lottery players in Wiltshire after John Biro from Westbury won an £80,000 National Lottery scratchcard prize in June.

Not checking the EuroMillions Millionaire Maker code is quite common. In May, Geordie Rhodick from Scotland threw away his EuroMillions ticket until his wife rescued it from the bin and realized they’d won £1m.

It’s also easy to underestimate your lottery win. Last week we told you how lottery winner Dale Smith from Montana, USA, thought he’d won just $5,000 and ended up winning over $390,000.

The couple admit that they found it hard to take in the news of their EuroMillions win and plan to be sensible in spending it. Some home renovations will now take place earlier than planned and they will also review their respective pension funds. The couple will also pay off their mortgages including their holiday home in Spain where they’ll be heading to soon.

To be in with a chance of winning, why don’t you purchase your lottery tickets online at
