A syndicate from the west of Ireland have claimed the €29m EuroMillions jackpot they won in the July 7 draw and described the past seven days as “a roller coaster week.”
The syndicate members have all asked to remain anonymous. That’s just like the Australian syndicate who won a $40m Australian Powerball jackpot.A spokesperson for the EuroMillions winners said that news of their win is only just sinking in. “This has come as a huge shock but we are thrilled. This will certainly make life easier for us all and will secure our futures.”
Their massive win was realized when one of the syndicate members checked the results of the EuroMillions draw, a day after it had taken place. Their ticket had successfully managed to match 11-20-35-37-45 and the two Lucky Stars 03 and 06. They then quickly began to spread the amazing news.
The winning EuroMillions syndicate spokesperson added, “It has been a roller coaster week with lots of butterflies in our stomachs and lots of different emotions. But we are keeping level heads and we will try to take it all in and we will give it time before we decide what to do with our winnings.”
All week there had been speculation about who the EuroMillions winners were. The only clues we had were that the €29m EuroMillions winning ticket had been purchased from Umesh Kumar’s Garryduff XL Store in Castlebar, Co. Mayo.
National Lottery Chief Executive, Dermot Griffin, said today he was delighted to hand over the winning EuroMillions cheque to the syndicate saying “We always love seeing happy winners come into our winner’s room. It is important these winners take the time and space to let the news sink in. This is an incredible amount of money to win, and we have recommended that the winners get independent financial and legal advice.” Last year lottery24.com told you about National Lottery advisor Kathy Garrett who gives help to UK Lotto winners.
The win is the 11th EuroMillions jackpot win from Ireland with this syndicate following in the footsteps of a Dublin syndicate that shared a €88.5 million EuroMillions jackpotin the January 24, 2017 draw. Since the EuroMillions draw was introduced, there’s now been over €1 billion won by tickets sold in Ireland. That includes a £20m EuroMillions jackpot won by a group of Dublin bus drivers last year.
