EDMONTON MAN IS ALBERTA’S LATEST LOTTO 649 MILLIONAIRE
A man from Edmonton in Alberta, Canada, has become the province’s latest millionaire after winning $1 million on the Lotto 649.
Rommel Nerona told Lotto 649 officials that he bought a ticket for the August 12th Lotto 649 drawing, but didn’t check his ticket until almost two weeks later. The man from Edmonton, in the Rocky Mountain province on Alberta, said that he found out about his win when he was out running errands with his family, and on the spur of the moment decided to check the lottery app on his phone. Recently a couple from Edmonton won $8.1 million on the Lotto 649 and planned to travel the world.
His phone told him that he had won the August 12th Lotto 649 Guaranteed Prize Draw, being the only lottery player from across Canada to take the $1 million home, but Mr Nerona said he couldn’t quite believe what he was seeing. “I went straight into shock, but my brother started screaming, ‘Oh my God! You won a million dollars!’”, Mr Nerona told Lotto 649 officials as he claimed his prize last Tuesday. A Maryland Double Match winner told lottery officials that she was running errands when she bought her winning ticket.
“I still can’t believe that it happened,” the big-time winner said, despite the fact that the money is now in his bank, ready for him to spend however he wants. A Mega Millions winner from California also said she was still in disbelief after claiming her winnings.
Mr Nerona said that he already knows how he’ll spend the majority of his $1 million, as he wants to buy himself a house and a new car. A couple from Cardiff in Wales planned to buy a house and a brand new Audi after winning £1 million on the UK Lotto.
“I also want to help out my parents and some relatives,” he added. Recently, the August 19th drawing made two other millionaires: one of the Lotto 649 winners was from Montérégie in Québec, and the other from Ontario, each winning $6,437,793.
