PLAYER NEARLY THROWS $50,000 WINNING HOLIDAY RICHES SCRATCH CARD IN THE BIN

A lottery player from Baltimore in Maryland, USA, usually treats himself to a scratch card every Saturday. It proved to be an extra-special treat when he won a $50,000 top prize on the Holiday Riches scratch card, but he so nearly threw it away.

The lucky Holiday Riches scratch card winner has asked to remain anonymous, that’s just like the $25m Australian Powerball winner from Victoria, Australia.

We do know that he is 43 years old and does custodial work for a local school in Baltimore. It’s the latest big win in the state of Maryland, USA, after Ezkiel Simpson won a $100,000 prize on a 5 Card Cash scratch card. Also celebrating in Maryland, was a player who was lucky enough to win a $775,000 jackpot on the Multi-Match game.

purchased his winning Holiday Riches scratch card from Royal Farms #128 in Baltimore after stopping to put fuel into his car and put air into his tyres.

The $50,000 Holiday Riches winner didn’t check to see if he’d won anything until he arrived back home. In fact, it seems he’d forgotten about it and only looked at it when glancing at it while on the phone. When he did get around to checking it, he wasn’t sure how much he’d won. “I really had no idea I had won big,” he said. “I figured I’d check the ticket later after I grabbed some Chinese food, so I put the ticket in my shirt pocket.”

On arrival at the Chinese restaurant to collect his food, he decided to check his Holiday Riches scratch card again. “Boy, did I get the shock of my life,” he said. “And to think I was about to throw the ticket in the trash. That is what I do for a living! Thank goodness I didn’t.” A family in Ireland actually did throw their €500,000 winning EuroMillions ticket into a bin, before it was rescued. Amanda Lewis from England nearly missed out on her £1m EuroMillions win after initially failing to check the Millionaire Maker code.

It’s not known how the delighted Holiday Riches winner is going to spend his windfall. Perhaps he’ll go on a cruise like the player from Kansas, USA, who won a $3,617,726 jackpot playing the Super Kansas game.

The Holiday Riches scratch card went on sale in October and still has five $50,000 top prizes remaining.
