SEARCH FOR MILK LEADS TO £1M EUROMILLIONS WIN

Arthur Griffiths from North Cornelly in Bridgend, Wales, only wanted to buy some milk from his local shop. While there, he purchased a EuroMillions ticket for the December 15 draw and won £1m.

The lucky EuroMillions winner didn’t want to lose his ticket, so he slept with it underneath his pillow. John and Allison Doherty from Scotland hid their £14,671,343 UK Lotto ticket inside a hurricane lantern folder to keep it safe.

“I simply can’t believe my luck – I popped to the shop for a pint of milk and came away with a million pounds, which is just incredible,” said Arthur. That’s just like what happened to Bogumila Mroczkowski from Edmonton in Canada, who ran out of milk and ended up buying a $21m Lotto 6/49 jackpot winning ticket. Former teacher Bill Bett from Scotland thought he’d won a bottle of milk when seeing ‘1MIL’ but had in fact won £1m on a scratch card. It was a bottle of Sprite that Robert Silcox from England wanted, and it led to him winning £111,812 playing UK Lotto.

The male voice choir member says he will treat himself to a debenture ticket at the Principality Stadium where he has sung on the pitch on several occasions. It’s another big lottery win in Wales after Matthew Evans won a £2.6m UK Lotto jackpot.

The former steelworker says; “I’m a lucky man” but despite his EuroMillions win, he won’t be moving out of the home in which he has lived for 40 years. His home is close to the motorway, so it makes travelling around the country easy. Tommy and Linda Parker from Scotland bought their dream home after a £5m UK Lotto jackpot win.

The past year has seen Griffiths sharing his home with his partner Lorraine Rimmer and although they won’t be moving home, the 81-year-old EuroMillions winner plans to buy a new three-piece suite. He’s had his eye on a couple for the past few weeks and can now afford the better of the two he’s targeted.

“Everyone is thrilled for us,” said Mr Griffiths, who is a member of Kenfig Hill and District Male Voice Choir. He admits that news of his EuroMillions win “still hasn’t really sunk in.”

Even though is big EuroMillions win came just before Christmas, the couple didn’t change their plans for the big day and Griffiths plans to “keep our feet on the ground.”
