LOVELY LADIES WIN €500,000 IN FIRST EUROMILLIONS PLUS DRAW

When you buy something from a shop that’s in a hospital, it’s usually something for the patient you are visiting. Perhaps some magazines, flowers or chocolates but the Lovely Ladies syndicate from Ballinaloe in Galway, Ireland, purchased a EuroMillions Plus ticket from a hospital shop that won them €500,000 in the February 6 draw. The Lovely Ladies syndicate is comprised of 18 members aged between their 20s and 60s who work in the administration department of the hospital. Each lucky player will receive around €28,000 each. In Scotland, a syndicate of 25 nurses won a £126,530 UK Lotto prize.Their EuroMillions Plus winning ticket was bought from the Oasis Shop in the hospital and amazingly this was their first ever draw. The hospital workers had been chatting about the rising EuroMillions jackpot and what they’d do if lucky enough to win the top prize. Syndicate leader Amy Moran told how they then decided to form the Lovely Ladies syndicate and put a euro each into the pot but “little did we know we’d be sipping champagne in the National Lottery a few days later.”First time wins have happened in the past. In Canada, a syndicate of croupiers won $1m in their debut Lotto Max draw.Lisa Quam from Washington State, USA, did even better winning a $90m Powerball jackpot in her first draw.Soon after the draw, gossip began over the half a million euros EuroMillions Plus win. However, Moran had left their ticket at work so had no way of finding out if they were the winner, after all she was pretty new to this lottery syndicate business. She had a long anxious wait until 8am the following morning but when she heard that the winning ticket had been sold in the hospital shop, the syndicate realized they had to be the winners. It’s the latest big win in Ireland after a family in County Cavan won a €500,000 EuroMillions Plus prize last month. Also celebrating were Eithne and Calin Bell who won £1m playing EuroMillions.Amy said that she’s “absolutely thrilled for all of the girls,” and that everyone has their own plans for how to spend their share of the EuroMillions Plus win. That includes cars, holidays and helping family members with their education costs. The next EuroMillions draw takes place on Friday 16 February with an estimated jackpot of £133m (€151m). Purchase your lottery tickets online at Lottery24.com, to be in with a chance of becoming a winner!
