A winner of the EuroMillions Millionaire Maker raffle is being hunted in the Cairngorms, Scotland after their ticket won the top prize on February 23rd but has not been claimed.

A ticket purchased in the Highland Council area won £1 million in the EuroMillions Millionaire Maker drawing on February 23rd, but the winner has not yet come forward. A couple from the Highlands won £1 million on the EuroMillions in 2015, and put the money into organising community events.

Members of the CairnGorm Mountain Ski Patrol have now got involved to try and help find the ‘missing’ winner, with lottery officials saying that ski patrol are helping them to tackle the snowy terrain. A Highlands man recently became a lottery winner for the second time thanks to the People’s Postcode Lottery when he won £25,000.

The winning Millionaire Maker code was JLVR 34110, and EuroMillions officials say that if anybody believes to be the winner but does not have possession of the ticket, for example if it has been lost, they must make a claim to the National Lottery by March 25th. Giant slalom gates have been erected in the mountain displaying the Millionaire Maker code in the hopes that it might jog the winning ticket holder’s memory. A Welsh UK lotto winner came forward to claim his £1.8 million prize after an appeal hoping to jog the winner’s memory was held.

A member of the Cairngorm Mountain Ski Patrol, Nancy Mathews, said “We were thrilled to support the hunt and help in the search for the mystery ticket holder so that they can be united with their winnings – it’s a life changing prize!” She continued to say that winners shouldn’t worry if they’ve lost their ticket as they could still make a claim. A Northern Irish EuroMillions player claimed his £1 million prize after he found his lost ticket in his coat pocket.

“Of course, it may be that the ticket holder just hasn’t got around to checking their ticket yet, so my advice to all EuroMillions players in the Highland County Area – from John O’Groats to Glencoe – would be to search anywhere a missing EuroMillions ticket could be hiding and, once they have it safely in their hands, check it.”

Ms Mathews continued to say that she hopes the winner is a mountain lover, and that they’ll pay ski patrol a visit once they’ve claimed their million-pound prize. A EuroMillions winner from Dundee in Scotland chose to take his £1 million windfall as a sign to retire, and he did so two minutes after finding out about his big win.
