A woman from Cairns in North Queensland, Australia, recently found out she was the area’s 10th Gold Lotto winner in 12 months, and her reaction can’t all be repeated.

The lottery winner, from Atherton, decided to remain anonymous after she won $1,333,333.34 on the Gold Lotto drawing on March 24th, but wasn’t afraid to recount her reaction to the news which she first discovered on Good Friday. “I was at home and I just checked my ticket,” the Gold Lotto winner explained. “I checked it and raced into my husband and woke him up and said, ‘check these numbers’.” Another couple from Cairns who won on the Gold Lotto had already mentally spent their $1 million before even claiming it, while a young woman from the same area was in shock and disbelief after a region-wide search revealed she was a $40 million Oz Lotto winner.

When the pair both realised what the ticket was worth, the reaction was one of expletives and exclamations, and the pair both struggled to believe their luck. A Nova Scotia couple who won $1 million on a scratch card responded to their win with a few choice expletives. “There’s been a few times over the past few days where we couldn’t believe it,” the Atherton woman told lottery officials, just like a retired couple from the Australian capital of Canberra who were so shocked by their win on the Australian Lotto they hadn’t even thought about how to spend it. “Now we’re sort of like, we’re going to buy a house, pay some bills and have some investment money for when we get older,” the winner said. A New York man planned to put his winnings towards a secure future after a $5 million Set for Life jackpot win.

The winning ticket was purchased as a Quick Pick entry from Phillips News agency on Main St in Atherton, and it was one of 15 top prize winnings tickets across Australia in the March 24th drawing. The owner of the news agency, Fiona Stevens, said that the store has now sold three top prizes for the Gold Lotto, and they’ve all been celebrating.

“We’ve had a busy week of people coming in to check their tickets – everyone wishing it was them,” she said. “We wish our latest division one winner all the very best!” That division one winner is certainly hoping for the very best as she described her stroke of luck as “it’s divine! It’s just divine!”
