A man from Iowa has asserted that he won’t believe his $4.38 million Lotto America prize is really his until it has been safely deposited into his bank.

Chuck Anderson, from Davenport in Iowa, USA, won his $4.38 million prize on the Lotto America with a ticket that he received as a free play in a Lotto promotion, but as he claimed his prize he said that he wasn’t going to get ahead of himself despite his incredible luck. “I’m waiting until the money is deposited,” he told Lotto America officials. “I won’t believe it until it’s there. Recently we told you about an Iowan scratch off lottery winner who was lost for words after his $250,000 win.

A Connecticut man was also having trouble believing his luck after scoring a $360,000 prize on a scratch card. The 52-year-old Lotto America winner was the first Iowa lottery player to win the Lotto America jackpot since the game started in the state six months ago, and he beat even more odds by winning with a ticket which he received for free. In a promotion called “Lotto Surprise”, the Iowa Lotto is giving away free tickets this month when player buy tickets for a particular game. A man from Brampton in Ontario won over $35 million on the Canadian Lotto Max after winning a free play on a previous drawing.

Mr Anderson purchased a Powerball ticket during the first week of May, which entitled him to a free play on Lotto America, which then matched all six numbers in the drawing on 5th May. “I had to check them again,” the lottery winner said of the moment he checked the winning numbers on the lottery’s website. “I had to look a couple times.” A woman from Council Bluffs in Iowa had plenty to celebrate after winning $100,000 on a scratch off ticket during the same weekend as her friend’s and boyfriend’s birthdays.

True to his statement that he didn’t want to get ahead of himself, the Lotto America winner said that he is consulting with financial and legal advisors to make decisions about his winnings, and a large proportion of it will be invested for his future. “I’m excited for the opportunity to help my family and feel lucky to have won this prize,” he said. A Powerball winner from Louisiana also planned to invest his $2 million prize in his future.
