EuroMillions winner from Scotland has remarried six years to the day after winning £148 million with her former husband.
Gillian Bayford won her fortune back in 2012 with her former husband Adrian Bayford and has now married again in front of friends and family after a ‘whirlwind romance’. The EuroMillions winner married partner of less than a year Brian Deans, 37, at the Fairmont Hotel near St Andrews in Scotland.
Earlier this year, Gillian was rumoured to have bought a Scottish castle worth over £619,990, and friends of the bride said that the romance has happened quickly, but that the couple pulled out all the stops to ensure that their special day was what they wanted it to be. Mum of two Gillian has not had the best of luck in romance since splitting from her former husband, and her most recent partner was deemed to be a gold-digger by friends of the EuroMillions winner. Not long after winning their fortune, Gillian said that despite her EuroMillions win, money can’t always buy happiness.
Mr and Mrs Bayford’s marriage broke down just a year after they won the second largest EuroMillions jackpot in the game’s history, with both parties since moving on. Mr Bayford has moved to England and recently donated the grounds of his mansion to host a cancelled music festival, while Mrs Bayford was previously engaged for three years before finding her happy ending. A couple from new Zealand had their happy ending after winning on the NZ Lotto, getting engaged and celebrating a birthday all in one weekend, while a couple from England who won £6.6 million on the UK Lotto got married just a few weeks after their big win and have since built their own house.
Wedding guests told the local press that the wedding took place in a private suite at the luxury hotel, with drinks being served on a private terrace before the wedding breakfast and dancing. The bride and groom stayed at the hotel both the night before and the night after the ceremony.
The groom, Mr Deans, and his groomsmen were all dressed in kilts for the occasion, and Gillian was dressed in white and accompanied down the aisle by a close friend. “It’s all happened so quickly,” said a friend of the bride.
