$4.8m Set for Life Winner Finally Claims Prize

A man from Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, had a $4.8 million winning Set for Life ticket for nearly a month. His ticket had been purchased after an “overwhelming feeling” led him to believe a division one win was imminent.

The lucky player won his prize in the October 9 Set for Life draw. He was the only division one winner and will receive $20,000 a month for the next 20 years. It’s only recently that he has come forward to claim his prize.

If his Set for Life ticket had been registered, this wouldn’t have happened. Lotto officials would have known who the winner was and gave them a phone call with the incredible news. However, with unregistered tickets, they just must wait for the winnings to be claimed.

For weeks, the Newcastle resident had the winning ticket inside his wallet. He said that usually he does register his lottery tickets to a player card. However, on this occasion he had forgotten to do so.

Recalling the moment when he discovered his Set for Life win, he said: “I couldn’t believe it when I saw I’d won division one.” As many players do, he continually checked his ticket “because I wanted to make sure it was true.”

An overwhelming feeling

Perhaps he shouldn’t have been too shocked by his success. The day he bought his ticket, he says he had “this overwhelming feeling that I was going to win division one.” That feeling certainly came true for him.

The Set for Life winner added that he has been following the law of attraction for several years. That’s why he feels that he has “manifested this win.”

He plans to use his Set for Life winnings to help his family. It’s going to be all change as he looks forward to them living “a really luxurious lifestyle.” Some donations to his favourite charities are also on his spending list. “I always said if I did win, that I would need to give back,” said the Set for Life winner.
