$50 million Australian Powerball Winner Still Shaking

A man from Mackay in Queensland has come forward to claim the $50 million Australian Powerball jackpot won in the February 18 draw. 

With his ticket not being registered, it wasn’t known who the jackpot winner was. The lucky winner says that his Australian Powerball ticket had been bought on a whim. He only occasionally buys tickets. However, he said that even though there’s only a “tiny” chance of winning, “you need to be in it to win it.”

While everyone was wondering who had won the $50 million prize, it was sitting in his wallet. He’d heard that someone in Mackay had won $50 million but not for a second did he think he was the winner.

Mind goes blank

He checked the app and when making the amazing discovery his mind went blank. So shocked was he that he needed a cigarette to try and calm himself down. It didn’t work that well and he told lottery officials “I’m still shaking. My brain is going at a million miles an hour.”The winning numbers were 03-13-16-19-22-25-30 and the Powerball 10.

Despite being a multi-millionaire, the Australian Powerball winner he will still be going to work this week. That might change in the future though and who’d blame him.

Lots of decisions to make

He’s going to take his time though on other ways to spend his Australian Powerball winnings. “I know this is a big life-changing thing,”the jackpot winner said. “I have a lot of big decisions to make but I will take some time to wrap my head around everything.”

The winner has confirmed that he wants to share his windfall with his immediate family. “I’ll be taking care of my parents, I know that much at least,” said the generous winner who has asked to remain anonymous. Buying his own home is also on his spending list.

His winning Australian Powerball ticket was bought from the News Central store in Rural View. Store owner Louis Pastega is delighted with the news he sold the winning ticket. “We’re so happy to hear the winner now knows he’s $50 million richer and it’s great to know it’s gone to a local. We hope he really enjoys it,” said the store owner.
