A Tale of Unusual Luck: Idaho's 18-Time Lottery Winner

A Streak of Wins Over Three Decades

Imagine winning the lottery once in your lifetime. Now, think about winning it 18 times over a span of 30 years. That's the incredible story of an unassuming man from Idaho. Defying all odds, he has managed to bag significant wins in the lottery not once, not twice, but a whopping 18 times! The question now is, will he make it to his 20th win?

An ordinary resident of Idaho has turned out to be an extraordinary lottery player. Robert Bevan, the man with an unbelievable streak of luck, recently added another feather to his cap with his 18th win. The Idaho Lottery took to social media to celebrate this unique achievement and asked their followers, "Does lightning strike 18 times? For Idaho Lottery player Robert Bevan... it just might."

From First Win to the Most Recent

Bevan is no stranger to the winners' circle. His first taste of victory came way back in 1997 when he won a top prize in the "Blazer Bucks" promotion that awarded seven lucky winners with a brand-new 1997 Chevrolet 4-Door Blazer.

Over the next few decades, his winning streak continued unabated. He won several $1,000 prizes, multiple $5,000 prizes, various $20,000 prizes and even bagged a hefty $200,000 prize at one point. His most recent win was a cool $50,000 from a "$1,000,000 King" scratch-off game, making him one of the five second-tier prize winners.

But what's interesting is that Bevan doesn't attribute his repeated wins to luck. He doesn't see the lottery as a game to be conquered. For him and his wife, it's just a fun activity they enjoy doing together. "Stopping for gas. Picking up groceries. Grabbing a ticket along the way. It's become part of life," he says.

Real Luck Lies in Love

While Bevan's lottery wins are nothing short of amazing, he believes his real luck lies elsewhere. This year, as he and his wife celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary, he can't help but smile at the thought of their enduring bond. "My real luck is 40 years with the same amazing woman," he told Lottery officials.

The "$1,000,000 King" scratch-off game that brought Bevan his latest win was launched in December 2025. It awards two top prizes of $1 million, one of which has been claimed. There are also two out of five second-tier prizes of $50,000 and four out of nine third-tier prizes of $10,000 still up for grabs. The overall odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 2.87.

As we all marvel at Bevan's extraordinary lucky streak, he continues to live his life with simplicity and joy, cherishing his real jackpot - a happy marriage spanning four decades.
