The province of Almeria in Spain is celebrating again with another big lottery win. Last month players in the area won the top prize in the El Gordo de Navidad. El Niño translates into ‘The Child’ and is held on the same date each year as it’s believed that is when the baby Jesus was visited by the Three Wise Men.The winning number in the 2016 draw was 22654 and one of the big winners was a resident of Alhama de Murcia. The lucky player won €200,000 with a ticket purchased from the lottery office in Avenida Juan Carlos I.One of the towns where the most winning El Niño tickets were sold was Roquetas de Mar in the province of Almeria. Players there were still celebrating their success in the El Gordo de Navidad and €200,000 prizes to the value of €630m are on their way to players in the municipality. It’s believed that some of the El Niño lucky winners were also winners in the El Gordo de Navidad, giving more joy to the struggling south coast town.Other winning El Niño tickets were sold in Torremendo in the province of Alicante, Vall de Uxo in Castellon, Gijon in Asturias, Barcelona, Lleida, Badalona and Sant Vicenc in the region of Catalunya and Bilbao and Pasai Antxo in the Basque Country.The second prize went to holders of the number 60755 and the tickets for that number were all sold in Madrid. The third prize went to number 95395, which was sold to some players in Guardo in the province of Palencia (Castilla y Leon).
