Barbados at Last for £100,000 Postcode Lottery Winners

Promises are made to be kept and for two women from Burton-on-Trent in Staffordshire, England, that means going to Barbados. It’s all because they have both won a £100,000 Postcode Lottery prize.

Jane Elson and Karen McElroy first started playing the Postcode Lottery nearly ten years ago.  They said if a big win came along, they’d go on holiday together to Barbados. Well, now that has happened and they can't wait to go on that holiday.

Cancer battle

The last few years have not been easy ones for Karen as she has been battling womb cancer. Her tough time began three years ago but the cancer returned in 2024 and further surgery has taken place.  Cancer survivor John Lingard won £500,000 playing Thunderball.

The delighted Postcode Lottery winner says she will now make a donation to the Queen’s Hospital in Burton where she received treatment.

Looking forward to the holiday in Barbados, she said: “We're going to have such a fun time this year.”   It’s  the latest Postcode Lottery win in the county after Peter Beer won a 71,428 prize.

Is that the postman?

The dog walker is also delighted with her Postcode Lottery win. However, when receiving a phone call telling her she’d won, Jane didn’t believe it. When people arrived to present her with the £100,000 cheque, Jane thought it was the postman or a cold caller.

The lucky player wants to buy a new car but it must be big enough for her nine-year-old Doberman Kaiser to fit in. 

“Have I won?”

Also celebrating a £100,000 Postcode Lottery prize is Kym Ellis. She’d just set off for work in her car but then saw the camera crew arrive. “Have I won?” she asked. The social care worker said she is “absolutely blown away” with her win.

Now she’s planning to go on a road trip to Italy with her wife Andrea, though her other half is keen on saving as much of their winnings as possible. Also going on the trip will be their three-year-old Miniature Schnauzer, Holly.
