Best Friends Share $3m Scratchcard Prize

Sometimes the scratchcard you want to buy isn’t available. It wasn’t bad news for Wyatt Close and Brandon Thompson from Carthage in Tennessee, USA. Another scratchcard had to be purchased and it won $3 million, which will be shared between the two.

The best friends are both 19 years of age and were travelling to work on October 1. On their way they stopped off at a QuikTrip in Lebanon, Tennessee. While there, Wyatt decided to buy a scratchcard.
Mr Close said that he’d only purchased four tickets in the past. “I’ve never had any luck like this though,” he said. The scratchcard that he usually plays wasn’t available, so he had to buy another one. His choice was two Jumbo Bucks Titanium scratchcards and they’ve changed the lives of not just himself but his friend
The pair split the cost of the scratchcards. That nearly didn’t happen though but eventually Brandon decided to do so. He’s rather pleased now that he did.

Jumping galore

Wyatt returned to the van and then scratched them off. The first didn’t produce a win.  It was a totally different story with the second scratchcard. “I saw those black bold numbers and just started jumping,” recalled Close.
The two friends have decided to share the $3 million scratchcard winnings. They both plan to save some of their winnings, make some investments and build a home.

Not the first time

Sharing a big win has happened before in the state of Tennessee. In 2005, Janis Goodwin and Frances Davenport split a $1 million Powerball win. Their windfall was won while on holiday together in Gatlinburg which is also in Tennessee.
When they found out about their win, Frances said they were both “numb” but then started jumping up and down and screaming. The shared win was used to take care of their children and pay off debts.
