Birthday Gift Wins $1 million Mega Millions Prize
A birthday gift from her husband won April Zipp from Pennsylvania a $1 million Mega Millions prize in the draw held on April 12.
The 58-year-old certainly had a birthday present she’ll never forget. Her husband had gone to the BG’s Value Market to buy some ice-cream. $20 worth of Mega Millions tickets were also purchased and he knew just who to give the tickets to. Hopefully his wife also got some of the ice-cream.
Confused
It was her birthday the next day and April decided to check the Mega Millions results on their app. There was a message telling her that a claim form was needed. “I didn’t understand it at first,” said the surprised birthday girl.
The couple went back to BG’s to get their Mega Millions ticket verified. The mystery deepened as the clerk said it was a big winner and she needed to sign the back. April went out of the store and began to cry.
The lucky winner has been a school bus driver for over 40 years. When she told her children about the $1 million win. At first they couldn’t believe what they were hearing.
Finally live life
Plans for her $1 million Mega Millions win include buying an RV, going travelling and “finally live life.” Despite her big win, she won’t be retiring.
The owner of BG’s Value Market is Dianne Koval. Talking about the win she said: “It goes to show that winning tickets can show up anywhere, and anyone has a chance to win.”
Perhaps they’ll sell a winning ticket for Friday’s Mega Millions draw. The jackpot will be a fantastic $522 million (cash value $241.4 million) after a series of rollovers.
The Mega Millions jackpot hasn’t been won since March 26 when a lottery ticket sold in New Jersey won the $1.112 billion top prize. That’s the only time this year that a ticket has won the top prize in the Mega Millions draw.
Not since 2021 has the top prize been won in May, perhaps that might change this Friday.
