Cashier Error Leads to €194,616 EuroMillions Win

A mistake made by a cashier led to an Irish lottery player winning €194,616 in the June 21 EuroMillions draw.

The lucky male lottery player comes from Cork. It was a hot day so he went to a shop to buy himself an ice-cream. While there, he decided to buy a ticket for the next EuroMillions draw.

Feeling

He’s a regular EuroMillions player and usually buys four lines. However, this time the cashier only printed a couple of lines. The player could have asked for more but recalled: “I had a feeling I couldn’t let that ticket go!”  Another cashier error led to a $580,000 lottery win.

That proved to be a great decision and he won €194,616. He has opted to remain anonymous. He explained that if going public with his win, he’d get an “awful slagging” from people if he revealed his identity. The EuroMillions winner plans to enjoy his winnings with his family and closest friends.

Friday’s EuroMillions draw has a €111 million (£96 million) jackpot.

Lucky syndicate

Also receiving their cheque was a syndicate from Dublin. They won €78,500 in the April 23 Irish Lotto draw.

The syndicate comprises 32 workmates who have been playing for nine years.  It’s the latest win for a Dublin syndicate after a recent €250,000 lottery win.

Each syndicate member will receive €2,450, their best ever win.. The lucky winners are already busy planning on how to spend their winnings. Ideas include some treats, weekend getaways and holidays.

It took them a while to find out about their lottery win. One of the syndicate members explained that they “rarely check” their inbox. When they finally got around to doing that, the big win was discovered.

It didn’t take them long to spread the good news. “The replies came flooding in. Everyone was just so thrilled, it was such a great surprise!” said the delighted syndicate member.
