€255,000 EuroMillions Winners Thought They’d Won €5,000
Two players from Wicklow in Ireland won a fantastic €255,000 EuroMillions prize on May 13. However, they had a bit of a panic before finding out about their great win.
The lucky duo wanted to check the results of the EuroMillions draw but ran into a few problems. To begin with, there was that dreaded moment when their internet went down. That meant they had to go to the shop in Wicklow where their purchase had been made.
They handed their ticket to the shop assistant and were given a sticky note and on it was the number of the National Lottery. Then they were told: “You’d better call them.”
At this point they thought their win was €5,000 but was it? The two players didn’t have a clue what was happening. “ We thought something was wrong!” recalled one of the EuroMillions winners.
How much?
The National Lottery Prize Claims team were contacted and immediately the question was asked: “Just tell me how much I’ve won.” Then came the shock answer that they had won €255,000. It’s the latest win in Ireland after another syndicate won a €500,000 EuroMIllions prize.
The duo are now busy planning an overseas holiday. That’s one they say is long-overdue. “We haven’t been away in years,” said one of the lucky EuroMillions winners. Their aim is to go to Italy and go exploring, something they have long wanted to do.”
The much-anticipated trip will see them driving along the Amalfi Coast and then relaxing by Lake Garda. “This is our sign to finally do it!” they declared.
Will the Superdraw take place?
June 6 is due to see a £111 million (€130 million) European Superdraw take place. Will it take place though?
Tomorrow’s EuroMillions draw has a £169 million (€202 million) jackpot. In March, a record €250 million EuroMillions jackpot was won by a ticket sold in Austria.
There are three draws before then and if they all end in rollovers then the Superdraw will be postponed due to the higher jackpot already on offer.
