EUROMILLIONS WINNERS DONATE ANOTHER £600,000 TO PARTICK THISTLE FC

While England prepare for their World Cup semi-final against Croatia dreaming of making it through to the final, Scottish Championship club Partick Thistle are already celebrating. They’ve just been given a £600,000 donation by £161m EuroMillions winners Colin and Christine Weir. This is the latest in a number of donations made by the £161m EuroMillions winners. Previous donations have included using some of their EuroMillions jackpot win to fund the unsuccessful Yes campaign in the Scottish referendum. In France, a €72m EuroMillions jackpot winner pledged to donate at least €50m of his winnings to charity. Two years ago, the EuroMillions winners made large cash investments to fund the creation of an academy at Partick Thistle and make the club debt free with over £1m being invested.  Academy director Scott Allison said: "This is unbelievably good news - a real pat on the back for everyone."The club need some kind of boost as last season saw them relegated from the Scottish Premiership down to the Scottish Championship. Their academy is open to both boys and girls and has already produced some first-team players including goalkeeper Ryan Scully, defender James Penrice and striker Kevin Nisbet. "The success of the academy can now be seen in the number of our graduates making it to the first team in increasing numbers and that can only improve," Allison added. It’s not just the men’s team that is being helped with female players also reaping benefits. Sustaining the academy financially has been difficult but the help of the EuroMillions jackpot winners is helping them achieve their aims and the club can’t thank them enough for their donations.A recent National Lottery survey showed that British winners of big lottery prizes are becoming more willing to make charitable donations.  Sadly, we recently reported the death of Englishwoman Barbara Wragg who gave a large proportion of her £7.6m UK Lotto win to charitable organisations.EuroMillions jackpot winner Colin Weir commented: "I have been impressed with what the academy has achieved in five years. Players are coming through to the first team and it's great to see us really starting to grow our own. This money will help that to continue at pace and perhaps see money come back to the club as players move on.”Hopefully this new investment from the EuroMillions winners will see Partick Thistle get back into the Scottish Premiership sooner rather than later. If you think you could follow this couple's footsteps in becoming a EuroMillions generous winner, why not give it a go with us on Lottery24.com.
