Family syndicate win half of Irish Lotto jackpot with rare purchaseA family who won half of a €4.6 million Irish Lotto jackpot admitted that playing the lottery is not a regular occurrence for them, but it’ll sure help them out.Just last week we told you about two family friends who won £1 million on the EuroMillions after starting a syndicate together, and now this family, who decided to remain anonymous after their win last Saturday, September 10th, is planning to share their €2.3 million Irish Lotto windfall between them, and they are going to use it to buy a house and forego the mortgage. A spokesperson for the group said that they purchased their ticket on the day of the draw from a service station in Athlone, Co Westmeath.“I was buying petrol at the Topaz and decided to do a Quick Pick for that night’s Lotto draw,” the syndicate member said, adding that she only plays the odd time with her family and is not what you could call a regular player, just like Susan Richards from Essex who won £3 million after a last minute scratch card purchase. The Irish Lotto winner continued, “The next evening I was online and saw the news that a Quick Pick sold in the Topaz in Athlone won the jackpot. I thought: ‘Hang on – I bought a Quick Pick there!’”This is not the first Irish syndicate to have a huge stroke of luck either, as another family group recently won €500,000 on the EuroMillions with their first ever entry. The winner went on to say that when she fished out her Irish Lotto ticket and checked it against the winning numbers, she couldn’t believe her eyes, but she is grateful that her family will benefit from it now. Just like a couple from the Cotswolds in England who used their EuroMillions win to buy a home, the Irish family are putting their money into the property ladder. “We’re buying a house so this couldn’t have happened at a better time,” she said. “We’ll not need that mortgage now!”The Co Westmeath syndicate was one out of two Irish Lotto players to win the jackpot on September 10th, with the other winning ticket that matched the six lucky numbers having been sold in Dunnes Stores on South Great Georges Street in Dublin, however the holder has not yet come forward to claim the prize. You never know when and where good fortune is going to strike, so purchase your lottery tickets online now at Lottery24.com.
