Hospital Stay Brightened Up By €120,194 Irish Lotto Win
Spending time in hospital for a couple weeks isn’t pleasant. It wasn’t too bad for a man from Dublin, Ireland as he found out he’d won a €120,194 Irish Lotto prize.
The lucky player won his prize in the August 21 draw. He’d only bought the ticket when his son asked him to buy some milk. He went to a local Dunnes Stores and while there, he decided to buy an Irish Lotto ticket.
“You’ve won big”
Just a couple of days after making his purchase, he suffered blood poisoning and had to go to hospital. Two weeks were spent there and one day he remembered buying the Irish Lotto ticket. He scanned it on the National Lottery app and received a message saying: “You’ve won big.”
At first he thought it might be a prank so checked the app again and the same message came up. His €120,194 Irish Lotto win was later confirmed by the National Lottery.
Such was the shock of that news, the lucky player joked that he reacted by nearly jumping out of his bed. He wasn’t discharged from hospital until a few days later. Every night until he could go to claim his winnings, he kissed his winning ticket.
Plans for his winnings include going on the holiday of a lifetime but no destination has been revealed. Some home improvements are also going to be made.
Also celebrating a recent win was another male player from Dublin who won a €262,554 prize in the September 3 EuroMillions draw. Perhaps he’ll be lucky too on September 27 when the next EuroMillions Superdraw is being held.
When purchasing his ticket, he hoped that his random set of numbers might win something. His dreams came true when the app told him, “You’ve won big.”
Silent shock
A family member contacted the National Lottery for him and was told of the €262,554 win. Recalling when he was told how much had been won, the EuroMillions winner said: “my mouth opened and nothing came out.”
