Indiana family finally claim $536 million Mega Millions jackpotAfter the Mega Millions jackpot was won in the July 8th draw, it was revealed that the $536 million prize was the largest jackpot the lottery has ever paid out to a single player. And now that jackpot has been claimed by a family from Hamilton County, Indiana, who chose to remain anonymous as they sent a representative from their limited company to collect the prize for them. In order to keep their identities a secret, the family created the limited liability company which would receive the prize, totalling $271 million after taxes and other fees were deducted.A press conference where a marketing company represented the family was conducted last Friday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which was apt considering that the family first purchased their ticket for the Mega Millions at a Speedway gas station on Interstate 70.Some of the information that was revealed at the press conference was the fact that this was the first ever time the family had chosen to play the Mega Millions lottery, having previously only bought tickets for the Powerball game. However, the representative said that the family, including two school-age children, were heading out of town for a sporting event when they stopped at the highway gas station, and decided to buy five quick pick tickets for the multi-state Mega Millions game considering that the jackpot was so high. The Indiana family were hoping they might follow in the footsteps of John and Susan O’Day from Evansville, Indiana, who won over $16.5 million on the Hoosier Lottery earlier this year, but it wasn’t until they returned home a few days later, however, that they remembered they had bought the tickets and that they would probably need checking. The tickets were found mixed up in some receipts that they’d accumulated during their trip away, but when they finally checked them against the winning numbers that came up on their computer screen, they couldn’t believe what they were seeing. After closing and reopening the browser, and then rebooting the computer, they were still incredulous, to the point where when they arrived at Hoosier Lottery headquarters they were still unsure if they really had won. Just a few draws later, the Mega Millions jackpot was won again.Lauren Littlefield, who was representing the family at the press conference, said that they were a born and raised Indiana family who have no plans to leave the state, and that they were lovely people who truly deserved their prize. They weren’t the only lottery winners to wait a while before making their claim either, as one of the $1.6 billion Powerball winners only came forward to claim their prize earlier this week.No immediate plans for the money were revealed, although Ms Littlefield said that they don’t plan to stop working, they simply want to ensure that their children, family and friends are taken care of.Give your dreams a chance and purchase your lottery tickets online at Lottery24.com.
