Six players from Howard Springs in Darwin, Australia, are celebrating after they shared a $3m win in the Australian Powerball draw held on Thursday April 16.Earlier this month we told you about a Brisbane player who won $20m playing the Oz Lotto, and now it's a big Australian Powerball win to report. The six-strong store syndicate scored a first division win in the Australian Powerball draw and each will take home $500,000.Darryl Copeland, who owns the Howard Springs Newsagents at Shop 2 in Howard Springs Shopping Centre, Whitewood Road, said it was a last minute decision he took that led to the Australian Powerball winning syndicate being set up. He did so after all his other syndicates had sold out."It's so fantastic! It's hard to believe that just a simple QuickPick has led to six of our customers winning half a million dollars each!” Mr Copeland exclaimed. He added: "We were due a big win." The last big Division One lottery winning ticket sold at the store was eight years ago.The Australian Powerball winners have decided to remain anonymous but the store owner commented: "They're all local people, and three of the winners are people we know as regulars. It’s just luck of the draw, but it’s good to have a big win every now and then.”The Tatts Lottery say that syndicates are a popular way for Australian Powerball lottery players to take part in the game.The April 16 draw saw two tickets win the division one prize of $3m.
