A $1 million Mega Millions lottery ticket that was sold in Union County, New Jersey, will soon be worth nothing if the ticket holder does not come forward before mid-December.The winning ticket was purchased for the draw on December 17th 2013, and the winner has until the same date of this year to claim their prize, before it goes back into the New Jersey Mega Millions lottery fund. The ticket, according to lottery officials, was purchased at Krauszer’s store on Raritan Road in Cranford, Union County.The ticket in question matched the Mega Millions numbers 8, 14, 17, 20 and 39, missing just the Mega Ball of 7, which would have won that ticket holder the jackpot on the draw night. December 17th 2013 featured the largest Mega Millions jackpot in lottery history, as three winners split a jackpot worth $648 million.Those lottery winners were located in San Jose, California and Atlanta, and the New Jersey $1 million winner could have joined them to split the top prize four ways. There was one other New Jersey winner on that night, as a ticket holder from Toms River also won $1 million from the Mega Millions drawing.Lottery officials are urging anybody holding the winning ticket to immediately sign the back of it and contact lottery headquarters in New Jersey either via telephone or in person. The ticket can also be validated at any lottery retailer where a claim can be filed.This news of an unclaimed Mega Millions ticket comes as the lottery rolled over again last night, the draw was worth $43 million, bit no ticket holders were able to match all of the numbers 3, 12, 35, 37 and 63 as well as the Mega Ball of 15. There were also no second prize winners on the Friday night draw; those winners would have won $1 million for matching the first five numbers only.The Mega Millions lottery will therefore be worth an estimated $52 million for the next draw on Tuesday, 25th November.
