Powerball Jackpot Rises to $750 million

This summer has seen the Powerball jackpot continue to grow. Tonight’s draw will see players attempting to win a fantastic $750 million jackpot.

If the jackpot is won this evening, the one-off cash option is $338.6 million, before taxes are paid. That would take the winnings down to $257.3 million after federal taxes have been deducted. Further state taxes of up to $44 million would then need to be paid.

Earlier this year,  a ticket sold in California won a $526.5 million Powerball jackpot.

While there were no winners of the top prize on Saturday, three tickets won the second-tier prize on the Powerball to become millionaires. Those near-miss tickets were sold in New York, Maine and South Dakota.

Success for Heart attack and  Breast cancer survivor

Also celebrating becoming a millionaire this month is breast cancer survivor Nicole Walter from Pennsylvania, USA The grandmother of 10 won a $2.021 million scratchcard prize.

The past couple of years have been tough for the big winner.  Nicole had to undergo breast cancer treatment and also suffered a heart attack. Better times now lie ahead for her.

42-year-old Nicole was playing lottery games on her phone, while enjoying the company of her boyfriend. They decided to try out the Monopoly scratchcard and the next minute became millionaires. “I was shocked — I didn’t even say anything at first,” said the surprised winner.

2024 saw  a $1.3 billion Powerball jackpot won by a cancer survivor  who shared his success with three other players.

Farmhouse renovations

Walter (who used to drive racing cars) owns a farmhouse and that will be renovated thanks to this scratchcard win. The property means a great deal to her and now the grandmother wants “to make it even better.”

Her love of playing lottery games on her mobile has been ongoing for the past seven years. Speaking about the win, Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko added, “Nicole’s incredible story reminds us that life can change in an instant.
