£25,000 Leith Lotto Winner Out to Create Memories

James Taylor from Thurso in Scotland won £25,000 in the first ever Leith Lotto held on September 11. He wanted to help the Hibernians (Hibs) football team who play in the Scottish Premiership and finds his win “a bit surreal.”
The Leith Lotto winner has supported Hibs for all his life. He was one of a thousand fans who entered the draw. Mr. Taylor only did so a few days before the draw took place. “I bought a couple of tickets for the next six months just to support the club, then the next Saturday night I got an email through to say you’ve won.”

Blown Away

His win was far above his expectations of perhaps the occasional £10 or £15. When the email told him he’d won £25,000 he was “absolutely blown away” and initially believing it might even be a scam.
Even when confirming the win, he gave his wife’s bank details instead of his own. That led to a fair amount of screaming and clapping of her hands when the winnings arrived in her bank account.
He and his wife celebrate their Ruby wedding anniversary this year. To celebrate, the couple may go on a cruise. The Leith Lotto winner also plans to help his daughter and her partner buy their first house. His white van is going to be upgraded too, so the winnings will be well spent.

Creating a memory

As he says: “It’s important when you get an amazing piece of stuff like this to do something that creates a memory.”
Playing the Leith Lotto helps Hibs FC. 60% of each ticket goes directly to Hibernian FC Academy. That pleases James who wants to help Hibs “in any way that I can.” When hearing the lottery would help youth development, he thought to himself ‘that’s exactly where you should be putting your money’.”
His advice to other players is to play the Leith Lotto. Not just to help the club but who knows, “you might also be jammy like me and win the jackpot!”
