£35,000 Postcode Lottery Winners Off on Holiday

There have been celebrations aplenty in Hemlington after four neighbours each won a £35,000 Postcode Lottery prize o this month. £5,000 of their win is a holiday voucher, so where will the Durham residents be going to?

A dream come true

One of the winners was Bill who has a history of joking that he’d won the lottery. No jokes now though after this very real Postcode Lottery win. The grandad-of-two said his win was “a dream come true.”

His hardest task now is to convince his grandchildren that he’s telling the truth. They’ll know it is when he buys them some treats. One of those will be paying for driving lessons when one of his grandchildren turns 18 in December. Chances are they’ll get something before that though. As for the holiday, Bill and his wife Jean are thinking of going to Mexico or the Caribbean.

Cruising time

John was also a Postcode Lottery winner and it didn’t take long for him to choose his holiday destination.  He had a cruise booked but only got as far as Heathrow to learn it had been cancelled due to the pandemic. Now it’s off to the Caribbean for John and his wife Carol.

The rising cost of living in the UK has hit the retired couple. Carol says their win “makes you feel like you can relax now.” They’ll also be treating their six grandchildren.

Return visit

It’s off to the Greek island of Paros for Postcode Lottery winner Marion. The island has special memories for her as that’s where her daughter was married. The mother-of-two also plans some home renovations. Her husband Ian said that he has some champagne in the garage so a big celebration is planned.

Postcode Lottery Presenter Judie McCourt had a great time handing out all the prizes. The day was described as “glorious” and the presenter hopes some great celebrations take place. She added: “I hope they all enjoy celebrating tonight and have lots of fun jetting off on all those amazing holidays."
