£3.6m Set for Life Winners Become Ghost Hunters

Do you believe in ghosts? Well, Laura Hoyle, 40, and Kirk Stevens, 38, from Hucknall in England do. They won a £3.6 million Set for Life prize in March 2021 and are using some of their winnings to become professional ghost hunters.

The couple won £10,000 a month for the next 30 years. They are putting their Set for Life winnings to good use.

It was a massive surprise for the couple when they had their big win. It was two weeks until after the Set for Life draw that they discovered the win. They’d been playing the game in the belief they’d only won £5. A message from Camelot led to her going to her account and then came the “surreal” moment of discovering just how large the Set for Life win was.

Physically shaking

The telephone call in which Laura spoke to Camelot about the win has been released. Laura recalled how she was physically shaking when making an initial call about possibly winning the Set for Life prize. While waiting for a return call, she carried on with her online work meetings. Not an easy task as she recalls: “I could hardly speak, let alone make any sense.”

Since the win, Laura has quit her job and with Kirk is now a professional paranormal investigator, or ghost hunter as we’d call it. They’re also about to move to a new home too but it’s the ghost hunting job that they love most.

Award winners

Talking about her new occupation, Laura said: “Kirk and I are participating in lots more paranormal activities and I'm editing the videos we take which I absolutely love doing.” The Set for Life winner added that she’s getting “better and better” at editing. One of their videos recently won an award for top ghost hunting Youtuber.

The win has allowed them to go to places they’ve always dreamed of travelling too. That’s not exotic destinations for beach holidays but out-of-hour trips to the National Justice Museum in nearby Nottingham where there is plenty of paranormal activity.
