Queensland Syndicate Shares $70 million Oz Lotto Jackpot

A syndicate from Queensland in Australia is celebrating after winning Tuesday’s $70 million Oz Lotto jackpot.

The syndicate is made up of 15 players and their ticket was the only Division one winning entry for the draw. It’s  the second time this year that a ticket sold in Queensland has won an Oz Lotto jackpot.

It was really a lucky draw for the syndicate. They also had an astonishing 4,529 wins in lower divisions to win an overall $70,707,666.40. Each of the lucky winners will receive $4,713,844.42.

They all purchased their syndicate shares at 15 Golden Casket outlines situated around the Australian State. None of the 15 winners know each other. Some of them registered their tickets so lottery officials knew who the winners were and contacted them.

Asleep

One of the shocked Oz Lotto winners comes from Bribie Island and was asleep when the lottery called them. A woman from Western Sydney  was about to go to bed when being told of her $100 million Oz Lotto win.

“This changes our lives,” said the winner who now plans to buy a new home for his family. He added: “I’d happily wake up to hear your voice any day of the week!”

Another of the syndicate members lives in Richlands. He uttered a few expletives at first believing a prank was being played on him. Then he eventually realised he really had become a millionaire.

He could have won double his winnings as he’d tried to buy another share but the outlet had sold out. Now he’s looking forward to retirement.

Dream come true

When a male player from Inala in Brisbane was told of their Oz Lotto win, he initially thought it was $47,000. He then realised it was $4.7 million and he’s now looking forward to some overseas holidays.

The lucky winner described his windfall as “a dream come true.” His father and sister were with him at the time of the call so you can imagine the celebrations began immediately.
