Record $80 million Canadian Lotto Max Jackpot Tomorrow
Tomorrow’s Lotto Max draw will have a record $80 million jackpot. In addition to the top prize, there will also be a total of 18 Maxmillions prizes, each of which gives its winner $1 million.
The last Lotto Max draw was held on Friday with a $75 million jackpot. That was also a record amount since rule changes came into force for the Canadian lottery.
Jackpot cap reached
$80 million is the new jackpot cap so what will happen if Tuesday’s Lotto Max draw ends in another rollover?
The jackpot will stay at $80 million until finally someone wins the record amount. Additional Maxmillions prizes will become available. When the jackpot is finally won, the top prize will return to its starting point of $10 million.
2024 marks 15 years since Lotto Max was first introduced. The very first draw was held on September 19, 2009. At that point the most any player could win was $50 million but a new record could be set this week.
Nine years ago, the jackpot cap went up to $60 million and in 2019, it rose to $70 million. This year has seen another increase of $10 million.
The most money that has been available in a Lotto Max draw has been $140 million. The $70 million jackpot cap had been reached and by the time the top prize was finally won, there was another $70 million available via Maxmillions.
Two Maxmillion winners
Although no one was able to win Friday’s jackpot, there were several big winners in the draw. There were two $1 million Maxmillions winners. One of those was sold in Ottawa which is in the Canadian province of Ontario.
That’s been a lucky province in which to play the Lotto Max draw. Patricia Walden won a $70 million Lotto Max jackpot in the draw held on May 31.
Three tickets were able to match six of the seven main numbers and the Bonus Ball. The holders of those tickets each received $285,447.40 and two were sold in the province of Ontario.
