Second Postcode Lottery Win for Castle Bromwich

Lightning really can strike twice. Castle Bromwich in Birmingham, England, is a lucky place to live. Neighbours won a share of a £3.2 million Postcode Lottery prize on July 2nd. It’s the second time the area has had success in the draw.

The previous win was eight years ago with £1.6 million shared on that occasion. The biggest wins in the July Postcode Millions draw is £20,000 with eight lucky players winning thanks to the postcode B36 9HD.

One of the lucky £20,000 winners is Maxine and it comes after a very tough time. Four years ago, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and given between seven months and a few years to live.

However, she’s now in remission but still has several side effects and is unsure if she can return to full-time work.

A future again

Speaking about her win, Maxine said: “This money means everything to me. I feel like I've got a future again.” She has to rely on her mother and sister for help but says her win “gets rid of the knot in my stomach that makes me feel like I’m dependent on everyone.”

Maxine had heard of the previous Postcode Lottery win but didn’t think lightning would strike twice. When hearing of this win, she thought it was a hoax..

The win is still a shock to her and Maxine said: “I’ll probably have a cry and a cup of tea later.” Her Postcode Lottery success came just in time for her birthday. That took place a day after receiving her cheque. She now plans to buy presents for her mother and sister to thank them for all the help they have given her.

Holidays planned

Other £20,000 winners include Dave who is now planning a trip to see his sister-in-law in Australia. He also wants to pay off his son’s mortgage. Praful also thought it was a hoax and ignored calls and emails. Now he knows it’s true he wants to go on holiday to Mauritius.
