Sleepless Night for $1 million Monday & Wednesday Lotto Winner

It’s understandable that a good night’s sleep doesn’t happen after discovering a big lottery win. A woman from Tasmania, Australia found herself in that enviable position You see she wasn’t sure if her $1 million Monday & Wednesday Lotto win was real.

The Launceston resident won her prize in the draw held on September 13 and was one of three division one winners. Her Monday & Wednesday Lotto ticket had not been registered so lottery organisers didn’t know who had won the prize.

They had to wait for the lucky player to come forward and claim their winnings. The winner had checked the results of the Monday & Wednesday Lotto soon after the draw. Discovering they’d won a $1 million prize left her feeling rather lightheaded.

So surreal

We don’t know the name of the winner but it has been revealed that she is a mother. “This is so surreal. I’m in shock,” the Monday & Wednesday Lotto winner told lottery officials.

“One million dollars?! That’s very hard to process,” she added before recalling the night she discovered her Monday & Wednesday Lotto ticket had won that amount.

The results had been checked on her iPad and a big shock was on its way. “It came up as $1 million and I thought, ‘no, that can’t be right!’” she recalled. Her husband was asleep but he was soon woken up “in a frenzy.” The couple checked the Monday & Wednesday Lotto ticket “about 20 times.”

About an hour of sleep was managed by the shocked and still slightly disbelieving winner. In the morning they paid a visit to the local newsagency to get their win confirmed.

Their ticket was purchased from the Meadow Mews News & Lotto shop. That’s a lucky place to buy lottery tickets as this is their 26th division one winning entry in 24 years.

The winnings will be used to look after their children “as they’re most important to us,” said the delighted player Money will also be spent on some home renovations and perhaps “we might upgrade the car.”
