UK National Lottery results now on ITV
Back to news

The past weekend has been an important one for followers of the UK Lotto, EuroMillions and Thunderball results. After a gap of a year, the results are again being shown live on national television, but for the first time on ITV.For years the UK Lotto, EuroMillions and Thunderball results had been shown live on BBC1 since 1994 before being moved to the BBC iPlayer last year. The results formed part of a show that also used to feature a gameshow with more big prizes being won. Big winners such as Matthew Evans from Wales who won a £2.6m UK Lotto jackpot could have seen the results live. Now the results will be broadcast on ITV but just as a 90-second segment during an ad break and hosted by popular entertainer Stephen Mulhern with other well-known ITV personalities joining him in future editions.Viewers don’t actually get to see the actual UK Lotto draw on ITV, that will be available on the National Lottery's YouTube channel. Sometimes there can be problems with live lottery draws. In Ireland, there was confusion over the numbers drawn in an Irish Lotto draw. In October last year, a New Zealand Powerball draw ran into technical difficulties. There was a slightly different way of giving out the results on Saturday April 14 as members of the public read out the lottery results. That’s like the El Gordo de Navidad draw in Spain that has the numbers read out by children.Stephen Mulhern, who presents ‘Britain’s Got More Talent,’ said: "The National Lottery is an iconic institution and I'm hugely excited to be part of its return to primetime Saturday night TV. I feel privileged to be bringing those lucky numbers to the nation but also being able to show players how the money they've helped raise has made a difference to communities across the UK."The UK Lotto, EuroMillions and Thunderball results will still be read out on BBC One four nights a week. That will include the all-important results from the April 20 €130m EuroMillions Superdraw.Viewers weren’t totally impressed with the new format, feeling that it all happened a bit too fast for them. Camelot said the reason for the change is to make the National Lottery "more relevant and visible". The show will have "different formats throughout the course of the year", a spokeswoman said. This includes taking the results show on tour around the UK visiting National Lottery-funded locations.Grab a chance to become next big winner and purchase your tickets online at
